Describe what you found
Start with the object, not a catalogue term.
Use ordinary language. Specialist collector terminology can help when you know it, but it should never be required.
About IndexFound
IndexFound is an independent Sylvanian Families identification and research project designed for the awkward cases: loose figures, partial families, swapped clothing, unidentified accessories and items that arrive with no box, no reference number and no specialist terminology.
The idea
Traditional catalogues work well when you already know what to look for. IndexFound works the other way around: start with the unknown Sylvanian item, pick out what can actually be seen, then compare those clues with researched records.
Start with the object, not a catalogue term.
Use ordinary language. Specialist collector terminology can help when you know it, but it should never be required.
Keep what can be seen, including uncertainty.
We pick out visible details while keeping uncertain observations marked as uncertain, rather than treating the whole description as one vague search phrase.
Rank what fits without forcing the nearest answer.
The strongest matches rise based on the clues that fit, the clues that conflict and any useful follow-up detail.
A useful identification should explain both fit and uncertainty.
Match confidence and historical evidence quality are shown separately. If the evidence is not strong enough, IndexFound should say so.
What IndexFound is
What IndexFound is not
Current scope
IndexFound is deliberately concentrating on Sylvanian Families. The public Index expands only when a record has enough evidence to support useful identification.
We are not building multiple collectible categories for launch. The priority is to make Sylvanian identification, research, browse and discovery as useful and trustworthy as possible.
Independence & rights
IndexFound is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by EPOCH. Sylvanian Families and other brand names are used descriptively where necessary to identify products. Trade marks, catalogue artwork, logos, packaging designs and third-party photographs remain the property of their respective rights holders.
